May we never forget those who have given their lives for freedom and in the service of their country.

On an autumn day in 1914 Laurence Binyon sat to compose a poem that Rudyard Kipling would one day praise as 'the most beautiful expression of sorrow in the English language.'

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn;
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.
